Horses are what make us happy
We’re here to share that happiness.
About our lessons
On-property lessons are private or semi-private depending on the recommendation of the instructor. Though most of our students are between 8 and 16, we welcome any committed student at our barn. Instruction is offered in both English and French. They include a half-hour of assistance and learning as they get the horse ready to be ridden, around 40 minutes of riding, and assistance caring for the horse post-ride for a total of around an hour and a half. Riders follow the Equestrian Canada Learn to Ride program, eventually leading to learning to jump or do dressage. Lessons are at a flat rate of 40$. To ensure interested students are a good fit for our lesson program, we offer free consultations.
Who we are
Isabelle Shepard (pictured on the left) is an English riding instructor certified under Equestrian Canada. She loves kids as much as she loves coaching and is experienced in show jumping and dressage. Chantal Richard (on the right) has loved horses her whole life and after building a barn in 2016, she went on to become the president of the equestrian committee of our zone and founded the Leg Up program, funding riding lessons for underprivileged youth. This mother-daughter duo run Écuries Aster Stables, whose small size is perfect for offering one-on-one English riding lessons and more. We are located in Burtts Corner, about a half-hour from Fredericton.

What we do
Empower
No matter who you are, at the barn you are an equestrian. Equestrians can overcome challenges and achieve great feats through patience and dedication.
Educate
We make a point to follow Equestrian Canada guidelines and model good horsemanship to keep our sport safe, fun, and centered around human and equine wellbeing.
Connect
We strive to create positive relationships with those who come through our barn, but also facilitate the magical connection between horse and human.
Not sure if you can afford riding lessons?
We try our best to keep our rates low and accommodate riders who may not be able to afford weekly lessons, but we understand that may not be enough for some. However, you may be eligible for financial support.
You can apply for Jumpstart funding here.
You can also apply for the Leg Up Programme here.
OR
Some students who are old enough may be allowed to work off lessons.
